| Innsbruck is the main city in Austria’s Tyrolean Alps. Innsbruck and the Tyrol is the winter wonderland of Switzerland. Nearby are world famous ski resorts including Kitzbuhel. Innsbruck like most cities is located on the river Bruckke, Innsbruck, get it. Anyway, Innsbruck has a smaller, but very nice old town. The main attraction of the city is the Goldene Dachl or the Golden Roof. This is the roof of a balcony that was built by the Emperor Maxmillan I, as a gift by the people to his wife. She would be able to stand on the balcony and overlook the square. The roof of the Golden Door is made up of 2600 gold plated copper shingles and is can’t be missed. |
