| In the heart of the Alps is the city of Lucerne, Switzerland. There is a lot to see here. The main attraction is the Chapel Bridge, a covered footbridge built in 1333. In 1993 a boat ran into the bridge and it burnt down, but was rebuilt. Another attraction of Lucerne is the Dying lion Monument. This is a statue of a dying lion that has a spear in its side. This was created as a memorial to 700 Swiss mercenaries that were killed in 1792. One side of this city borders Lake Lucerne, the other side has the remnants of an old city wall that one time offered protection. Nearby is Mt Pilatus, whose peak is easy to access from gondolas that go to the summit for those top of the world views. |

I drove to Lucerne from Zermatt. Although, most of my drive was in my car, sitting on a train, going through a twenty mile mountain to Interlaken. |
