The Rhine River flows the the Alps in Switzerland, 820 miles to the sea. The river’s most popular area stretches from the city of Mainz to Kolblenz, in Germany. The main attraction here is castles. There are more castles in this region than any other on Earth. The years have taken their toll on many, some have been converted to hotels. Others have been renovated and turned into tourist attractions. Many tourists take Rhine River cruises to see the castles. South of the main castle area is the city of Straus burg, France with its very beautiful Petite Paris section. In the north of the castles are the cities of Heidelberg and Cologne Germany.
