| Munich is the major city in the Bavarian region of Germany, which is in the far southern part of the country joining Austria and Switzerland in the Alps. Bavaria is home to Germany’s biggest tourist attraction, Nauswenstein, the castle built by Mad King Ludwig II, in the 1880’s, which served as the model for the Disney Hotel. Neuwenstein is located outside the city of Fussen, which is also home to the Hohenshwangau Castle. In the Alps, the city for alpine sports is Garmish partenkirchen. This skiing center is at the base of the Zugspitz, Germany’s tallest peak. North of Munich on the famous romantic road is Rothenberg, Germany’s best preserved medieval city. |
