| Burano is a small island off the coast of Venice, Italy. In the 1700’s this use to be a lace making capital but today it is a sleeping fishing village with brilliant pastel colored homes. Homes are painted bright, red, green, blue, yellow, so that the fishermen out at sea would be able to see their homes. Burano is ringed with small canals and bridges crossing over them. To get here take a ferry from Fondamente Nouve outside of San Marco Square in Venice. Continue past the glass blowing island of Murano. From Venice, it is about an hour Ferry ride to Burano and is worth it. |
