| The Alps run through many countries but there are the most, the biggest, the jagged and towering mountains in Switzerland. There are the beautiful cities of Zurich, Geneva, Lucerne, Basel and Bern. But when most people think of Switzerland, it is of its majestic mountains and the mountain towns that lie in their foothills. Perhaps Switzerland’s most famous mountain is the Matter horn, and the famous city of Zermatt. Other world famous mountains include the Eiger and the Jungfruitch, the tallest mountain in Switzerland. This country offers some of the finest skiing in the world and some of the best hiking trails in the summer. Switzerland is both a winter wonderland and is a summer paradise. Take one of the many scenic train rides that traverse the greatest peaks in the world. Go on a gondola or a cog railway train up to the very tops of the mountains to look down on the clouds below. The Lauterbrunnen valley is Europe’s most beautiful valley which is surrounded by some of the tallest mountains in the Alps and 72 waterfalls, which rivals Yosemite National Park. Don’t miss glamorous resorts like St Moritz or the small mountain villages like Grindenwald, Wengen or Murren |

This is the Lauterbrunnen valley in the Bernese oberland. This is the most beautiful glaciated valley in the Alps. I would say it is at least as beautiful as Yosemite valley, in California. |

Muren is in the Jungfrau region of the Bernese Oberland. Other cities in this area include interlaken, Grindenwald and Wengen. |
